Happy New Year!!!

A very happy New Year to all those reading my current blog...

I always like new year because of the reunion dinner, receiving hong baos, long breaks etc...
Reunion dinner is perhaps the only time when my whole family is eating and enjoying ourselves together as on normal days, my father will return late from work and myself in the army...so i really treasure this day every year...

Usually on the first day of new year, I would visit my grandmother and it is also at her house that all my closer relatives congregate together not only on this special occasion but also on weekends...steamboat would be the staple every new year at my grandmother's house but it still tastes as good...up to date, i received a total of 13 hong baos from my relatives...

There is one thing i can't forget what my grandmother said to me when I 'bai nian' to her...she asked me why I didn't bring my gf along...haha..I told her I will do so next year...some of my relatives are also expecting her to come...both of us are shy lah...need more time to be mentally prepared to see each other's relatives...however we have seen each other's family members already...

New year is also the time when i take a break from army...life in army is getting more hectic and turbulent with me going to India in a couple of weeks...farewell to those going there on day 4 of Chinese new year...

Tomorrow me and my ex-JC classmates will be going to Ms Liau (chemistry teacher) to 'bai nian'...she just got married and returning from Malaysia tmr morning...hope it isn't too rush for her...quite miss my JC days and my class mates...cya tmr!!!

I haven been listing down my thoughts for my new year resolution in my blog as I don't have the time...once again..happy Chinese new year everyone!!!

My Nicknames...

Below is an excerpt from wikipedia:

A nickname is a short, clever, cute, derogatory, or otherwise substitute name for a person or thing's real name (for example, Tom is short for Thomas). As a concept, it is distinct from both pseudonym and stage name, although there may be overlap in these concepts. A nickname is sometimes considered desirable, symbolising a form of acceptance, but can often be a form of ridicule. Many artists and actors have nicknames, which in years past were called a stage name. A person's online nickname may also be known as his handle, especially within hacker culture.

Types of personal nickname: Also known as pet name, shortened name, truncated name, alternate name, name derivative, associated name, hypocoristic form of a name, diminutized name, or diminuted name. Sometimes related to "alias."

People started calling me names when I was in Secondary school...once my Physics teacher said this in front of the whole class: "If u all face any difficulties can go and find 'zong-ge' if u can't find me"...from then my friends often tease me by calling me 'zong-ge'...

The next prominent nickname would be 'squirrel'..that is the petname my dear peacock(gf) gave me when she started to have feelings for me and whenever she mentions me in front of her friends, she would call me 'squirrel'...she got the idea from one of my JC classmates who says I look like a squirrel..

In NS, one of my course mates call me 'zong zong'..a rather close friend to date...I am also quite surprised why he call me that...haha...

That is all i can remember for the time being...

My Nokia 6610 phone has broke down...

It took my father $25 to repair a faulty IC card in it eventually...

My phone started to have problems here and there occasionally and I was so afraid that I might lose all my stuffs inside, especially those data in the calender and the messages that my gf dedicated to me. Of course, there are also lots of impt stuff in the achrive, templates and folders...

There were times when there was no response when I pressed the on/off button, times when it offs itself suddenly, times when it jammed, times when the volume of the phone was changing itself...

Panic strickened that the phone might be beyond reapir, my mum suggested me to get a new phone since her plan has reached maturity and an upgrade of plan/phone would be possible...
So she signed up for a new plan with comes with Nokia 6030 phone which I paid $38 for it...she gave me the phone while she continues with the new plan and old phone...

In the end, My original phone was saved but now I have switched to using the new one...design is nice, black in colour, more buttons and shortcut keys, animated screensaver, radio...features almost the same as the old one....but the games and applications in it sucks...cant buy a camera phone as I am in army though..when I ORD, I will be getting a better phone with radio, bluetooth, MMC card to play MP3..

On a happier note, all my stuffs is saved...so happy that the msg are still there...

Eve of Hari Raya...

After so many weeks of leading a sedentary lifestyle from the start of my block leave in late December to escaping PT lessons due to performing COS duties, I had a gruelling and fatiguing slope training physical training on Monday...

Many of us were either on leave or off as they can save the hassle of booking in on Sunday night and booking out on Monday night as Hari Raya falls on Tuesday...I couldn't get off if not for the need to attend ICCT lessons on Monday afternoon...

The gist of the day was the slope training...warm up was fine, some stretches and running around the complex one round..then, we had to run up the slope 7 times! As we progressed, I was feeling unwell but continued to press on till the end...almost collapse with abdominal pain...

After the slope training, we had to do some form of slow jog around the complex, totaling 1.2km...then we had to do 2 sets of static exercises to round up the PT...I fall out after the first set as I couldn't endure the pain anymore...rushed to the toilet, feeling sick, almost vomited, did some 'big business' then returned to join them...by that time they had already finished the 2 sets and I just joined them for cool down exercises...

Then we slack and slack till ICCT lessons in the afternoon...waited a long time for S3 personnel to open the gate so that we can carry out the dummy mattress...lesson lasted for about 30 minutes, a far cry for the usual 2 hours..did some revision of ground fighting and learnt a new technique in which the opponent wraps his arms around your head...had a hard time suppressing...had to punch him while grabbing his shirt and use my legs to force his head to the ground..my legs are a bit stiff and I made a laughing stock out of myself...sorry Terence if I had injured u...haha..but I had a enjoyable time...

We booked out after ICCT but had to book in Tuesday 8pm for the 16k road march...

.:-|What is your true element?|-:.

Light
Your element is Light: Innocent, beautiful,
kind-hearted and pure. You are so sweet your
almost angelic! You find joy in others
happiness and cannot stand to see anyone in
pain. You want to make everyone around you feel
good about themselves and if someone is upset
you can tend to become rather upset as well
which means you are sympathetic and raise
others above yourself. Being as kind and
good-natured as you are people have most likely
hurt you in the past but you pick yourself up
every time. You may look fragile but you are
stronger then most tend to see. Life is
beautiful no matter how you look at it and you
understand that people make mistakes. Not
everyone is perfect. You try to see the good in
the bad which is a talent few posses. Dont ever
let anyone change you. You truly have a
beautiful soul inside and a heart of gold.

Bad attitude salesman....

Just a couple of hours ago, I was shopping with my best friend, yong kang for his New Year clothes at queensway shopping centre...initially we thought of putting off the shopping to a later date as it was raining quite heavily but in the end we still went ahead with it...

The shopping centre was more crowded as usual maybe because it was raining and people were taking shelter or perhaps there are sales...The place was freezing cold as my sandals was soaked with water and my bag slightly wet...

We started shopping on the second floor where more varieties of clothes are available...the first floor mostly are shoes while laminating, photocopying, binding services are at the top floor...lots of shops selling affordable clothes like those in Bugis street, shops selling accessories are scarce though...most of the shirts I like are selling at $29.90 but my budget was $20...we took almost 1 hour plus to two just to tour the second floor...my friend was more interested in those buttoned sleeve shirts selling around $40...

We also patronise one shop selling tees at $18.90 but the material quality is not good..most of the shirts are reasonably priced at $29.90..There came this shop call 'Bright House' on the first floor selling nice shirts at an offer price of $19.90...we went there twice...first time just went there to check out the price and second time we revisited the shop as it has the lowest priced tees on sale that is of good quality...

During the second visit, something unpleasant happen...I took some time to choose the tees I want but the salesman was just too impatient..keep rushing me to buy..here's the conversation between both of us:

Me: *holding 3 different designs of shirt, did some comparison and put back one*
Salesman: *looking at me blankly without saying anything*

After a while,
Salesman: "Which colour do u prefer?"
Me: "I'm looking at the design, not the colour..."
Salesman: "You take so long to decide, then buy both lah..u buy 2 can save $20 leh..."
Me: *Put back the 2 shirts and took back the first one*
Saleman: *Tries to snatch the shirt from me* "Buy this one lah"
Me: *ignore him, continue to choose the shirt and ask him whether got any size*
Salesman: "just now auntie (ladyboss) tell u got size already what"
Me: *tinking, since the shirt is nice and on sale just buy loh*
Me: "Can try the shirt?"
Salesman: "Cannot.."
Me: "can take a look at other sizes"
Salesman: "No need lah, this size fits u perfectly"
Me: *pissed off, wanted to shout at him*
Salesman: *took a new shirt from the rack and put it in a bad*
Ladyboss: "Don't run away...go inside pay money"
Friend: "Anything lah, since the shirt is on sale"

That was what happened..if my mum was here, 'they' would have a verbal threshing from my mum...until now, I am still unhappy about the incident..

New year countdown...

Went to ICA to collect my passport which I made on Tuesday...just queued in line for a couple of minutes before it was my turn..very efficient....then went to my aunt's shop near Sim Lim to set up her broadband modem...

Made my way to Sim Lim Square after that...there is a shop selling CD/DVD media on the 6th floor whose price is reasonable...I brought spindle containing 100 pieces of CD-R media which comes with one to one exchange warranty..great deal isn't it? But this dun apply to CD-RW...DVD wise I'm not sure too..one thing the price is one of the cheapest in Sim Lim..If u are buying hardware, I recommend Best Bargain on level 5...brought a 5 in 1 SD/MMC/T-flash card reader and writer for $10.90..Save the hassle of using a wire to connect the camera to the comp...quite user friendly and sleek..like it a lot...

Meet up with my gf at 3.3opm at bugis MRT..the rain dampened our mood as we had to linger around in the mall itself for the rain to go off..our intend was to shop for her clothes around Bugis then go to the national library..in the end I brought a shirt and watch at Bugis Street while she brought hers at hang ten marina square with my 50% discount card in the month of December...more shops have begin their business and it is very crowded and compact there...but a good place for teens to hang out to buy clothes, watches and bags..lots of great deal and bargains...like that place very much..lots of variety, trendy, affordable...

Had dinner at Long John Silver...fries were really nice and crisp and the chicken tastes so nice as it has been some time since I ate it at long john...went to esplanade for countdown after that...had a nice chat with her while waiting...lots of couples, families were there...

Hundreds over balloons anchored to the seabed at the esplanade waterfront formed the backdrop for the ten minutes fireworks display..fireworks was great, especially when I have the chance to see it so near, so big, so loud...could'nt get my eyes off it as it was so well collaborated and colourful...people all around are screaming and spraying foams around during the display...an array of lights were situated along the waterfront, marina South and near to Fullerton...the atmosphere was wonderful with lots of couples embracing each other...fireworks left many in contentment after the show...a pity that I didn't bring my camera along to catch the pictures of the fireworks..I got the pictures from someone else though...

Truly a very memorable night for me and my gf...hope to spend my new year eve in the future with u...

JJC College Day...

Was held at suntec ballroom 2 on 30 Dec 2005 from 2pm to 4pm...various awards like best overall performance, best performance in individual subjects, outstanding academic performance, colours awards, long service awards were given out...

Saw many familiar faces, out of which talk to Mr Kwok, Mr Mak, Ms Goh and 2 of my ex classmates...many new faces which I suppose are the new teachers and I am happy to note that JJC has performed better holistically throughout the years with a marked improvement in the L1R5 score..it has also gained more support from the government and is on her way to be one of the top choice JC in the near future..

More focus has also been placed on the personal development, personal skills and entrepreneurship other than gaining knowledge from the curriculum itself...the opening of the roof top cafe and the option to learn new sports or skills are examples of that..

Though my 2 year stay in JJ was short, memories were unforgettable..I would like to end by quoting an abstract from the college song: "The road unwinds before us, and we must venture on, towards the bright tomorrow, which faith and hope enthrone."
